Once again it was both an honor and a pleasure for the V.C.C.A. to provide parade transportation for many veterans in the annual DeLand Veterans Day Parade. Starting at 10 a.m. meant fairly cool weather with partly cloudy skies and unlike last year, no rain.
Marching bands, horses, R.O.T.C. units from every branch of service color guards, motor cycle groups, other car clubs, military vehicles, pipe & drum corps, many marchers in addition to our 17 Corvettes all turned out to show appreciation to all who have served or are now serving in all branches of our armed forces. Those we are honoring include almost half of the V.C.C.A. members participating in the Parade. A special thank to Shira, from Kimi Embroidery, and two fine students from DeLand High School who volunteered to carry our American Flag and V.C.C.A. banner in the parade.
After the parade we cruised over to O.B’s Restaurant & Lounge for lunch. The Mayor of Sanford happened to be there and he made his way around the restaurant to shake hands with and thank each and every veteran present. A grand and thoughtful gesture in my opinion
The weekend of honoring all veterans doesn’t end there. On Sunday afternoon, members of our Club will assemble at the Olive Garden in Orange City where the restaurant offers a free lunch for all past and present military personnel.
