They are out there. No, not aliens, gremlins, and this time it was Larry Shepherd’s turn. A short while ago Larry & Cindy were up north and the shifter on his Vette went out. It got replaced in a NAPA Auto Parts parking lot (a shout-out to NAPA) with “something very close” to the original. They figured it would probably last forever…NOT! As he was backing out to join us, it went out again (welcome to forever). needless to say he missed the game but we ended up with enough Vettes. We actually had an extra so Mike Bruck got to carry “Wolfie” the mascot for the second year in a row.
For the last three years I have been coordinating the Homecoming festivities with Ms. Brandy Meadows. Each year I say “you should have your own ride for the effort you put in”. Well, this year it finally happened. Ms. Meadows was chosen as “Teacher of the Year”. I decided I wanted her in my Corvette. You should have heard the students cheering for her as we drove around the track. She certainly deserves it.
At halftime our job was done so we headed off to eat. What else is new!? We selected the same Beef O’Brady’s we went to last week in Deltona. Same restaurant, same server (Morgan), same great service and great food again.
Only one more Homecoming parade remaining on our schedule this year. That is T. Dewitt Taylor Middle/High School in Pierson. It is a short but fun-filled parade.
