February 16th started like most Saturdays, Corvette Breakfast at the Cocky Rooster, after which we took a short break before heading out for lunch in Titusville at Dixie Crossroads for some Rock Shrimp and corn fritters. This place is truly a big favorite of our members

One great part of this drive is Maytown Rd. heading East out of Osteen. It is about 22 miles of two lane black top with almost no traffic, no traffic lights, no stop signs and very few signs of civilization. A nice quiet uninterrupted drive.

There was a time where the caravan got separated and several of the 10 Corvettes left a huge gap in the procession. It seems that Mike’s gorgeous ’64 Roadster developed a wheel bearing problem and he had to reduce his speed. All 22 of us finally arrived and sat for a good meal, after which Mike put in a call to AAA. This was no easy task because 95% of all tow trucks were contracted out to Daytona for the 500. The closest one was in Kissimmee, almost two hours away.

During this time a lot of people passed by to admire Mike’s Vette. Including one young lady who absolutely fell in love with it. She came out twice to look at it again and take pictures. She even dragged a friend of hers along. Needless to say this was quite comical and helped lighten the mood. The truck finally arrived about 1 hour & 45 minutes later for the journey home. So that ended another event where the Road Gremlins raised their ugly heads once again.
